For further information contact us at helpdesk@openaire.euapps Other research product2020 Turkey TurkishEge Üniversitesi Türkiye’de son yıllarda iş sağlığı ve güvenliği konusunda yapılan çalışmaların gerek özel sektör gerekse akademik alandaki artışına paralel olarak konuya gösterilen duyarlılığın arttığı gözlenmektedir. Ancak bu olumlu gelişmenin genelde konuyu ana hatlarıyla ele alan çalışmalarla sınırlı kaldığı dikkat çekmektedir. Sektörlerin işleyişindeki farklılık ve süreçlerin değişkenliği, ana hatlarıyla işçi sağlığı ve iş güvenliği konusunda kavramsal bilginin aynı olmasıyla birlikte, her sektör ve birimin ayrı ayrı mercek altına alınmasını gerektirmektedir. Eğitim ve araştırma etkinliklerinin yürütüldüğü bina ve eklentileri, ayrı ayrı ele alınması gereken bina gruplarıdır. Bu noktadan yola çıkarak şekillenen proje çalışmasında, kullanıcı sağlığının kontrol edilmesi ve iyileştirilebilmesi için öncelikle durum tespitinin yapılması gerekmektedir. Bu çalışma kapsamında binalarda bulunabilen radon gazı ve radon ölçümü hakkında bilgilere yer verilerek radon miktarının insan sağlığı üzerindeki etkilerine değinilmiştir. Ege Üniversitesi, Kimya Mühendisliği bölüm binası, Tekstil Mühendisliği bölüm binası ve ayrıca iki konut bu proje çalışması kapsamında kullanıcı sağlığı açısından radon maruziyetini incelemek için ele alınmıştır. Corentium Home Digital Radon Monitor radon ölçüm cihazı kullanılarak toplamda 7 farklı ölçüm yapılmıştır. Maruziyet eylem değerini aşan ölçümler Türkiye Atom Enerjisi Kurumu (TAEK), Amerika Birleşik Devletleri Çevre koruma ajansı (EPA), Uluslararası Radyasyondan Korunma Komisyonu (ICRP), Dünya Sağlık Örgütü (WHO), Uluslararası Atom Enerjisi Ajansı (IAEA) ve Avrupa Komisyonu tarafından belirlenen sınır değerlerle karşılaştırılmıştır. Sonuç olarak; binaların bodrum katlarında bulunan radon miktarları tespit edilmiştir ve bu çalışmalar sonucu radon gazı sınırını aşan odaların çalışanlar üzerindeki etkilerini azaltmak için önerilere yer verilmiştir. In this study, information about radon gas and radon measurement is given and the effects of radon on human health are addressed. Ege University, Department of Chemical Engineering, Department of Textile Engineering and two residential buildings were examined for radon exposure in terms of occupational health and safety. A total of 7 different measurements were taken using the Corentium Home Digital Radon Monitor radon meter. Measures in excess of the exposure value were assessed by Turkey Atomic Energy Agency (TAEK), United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), International Commission on Radiation Protection (ICRP), World Health Organization (WHO) and International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Daily readings from a room in the Chemical Engineering Department have exceeded the exposure action value determined by authorized organizations. As a result; the amount of radon found in the basement floors of the buildings have been determined and suggestions have been given to reduce the effect of the rooms exceeding the radon gas limit on the workers.

İnsanlar; yaşam standartları, yaşadıkları ortamların fiziksel özellikleri ve coğrafi şartlara bağlı olarak değişiklik göstermekle birlikte yaklaşık 2,8 mSv yıllık ortalama radyasyon dozuna maruz kalmaktadır. Doğal kaynaklardan alınan dozun en önemli bileşeni, radon gazı ve onun kısa yarı ömürlü bozunma ürünleridir. Bu yolla maruz kalınan yıllık ortalama doz 1,3 mSv’dir. Genelde insanlar zamanlarının %90’ını kapalı mekânlarda geçirdikleri için radona maruz kalmaları önemli bir problem olarak ortaya çıkmaktadır. Kapalı ortamlardaki radonun büyük kısmı bina altındaki toprakta biriken radon gazının çatlak ve boşluklardan, bina içlerine sızmasıyla oluşur. Bu raporda, Kurumumuz tarafından evlerde radon aktivite konsantrasyonunun tespitine yönelik yapılan çalışma sonuçları, radon gazı ve sağlık etkilerine yönelik literatürden taranan bilgiler ile birlikte sunulmuştur. All living things are continuously exposed to ionizing radiation originated from natural radiation sources i.e. soil and building materials due to radionuclides in the Earth's crust, cosmic rays, water, food and the human body itself as well as artificial radiation sources. The worldwide average background dose for a human being, depending on the physical and geological features of the place, is about 2.8 mSv per year. With the estimated annual average effective dose of 1.3 mSv, radon gas is particularly significant source of exposure to natural radiation. As individuals spend more than 90% of their time indoors, the exposure to radon becomes a significant problem. Most of the radon in indoor air is due to the penetration of radon gas in the ground through cracks and gaps into the buildings. In this report the results of the measurements on the determination of radon activity concentrations in houses are given with supplementary information compiled from the literature on radon and its heath effects.

Another important chamber component is the measuring device of climatic conditions, since temperature, air pressure, and relative humidity must be determined. The construction of the equipment allows the time-stable radon activity concentration to be maintained at a precise level for several days. Radon concentration values can be arbitrarily and continuously set in the range from 100 Bq· The National Institute for Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical Protection, under the European project 16ENV10 MetroRADON (the European metrology program for innovation and research, EMPIR), has developed unique equipment for the testing of measuring devices at low-level radon activity concentrations. The equipment consists particularly of an airtight low-level radon chamber (LLRCH) with an inner volume of 324 liters and a pressure vessel as a radon-free air source. The mass flow controller of the Bronkhorst EL-Flow type is a part of the apparatus and ensures the requested airflow through the radon source&mdash through the chamber. The homogeneity of the atmosphere in the chamber is ensured by means of a continuously regulated fan (airflows in the range of 0.1&ndash a Rn-222 type RF 5 flow-through source with a Ra-226 activity of 4.955 kBq developed by Czech Metrological Institute within the above-mentioned project partialized if necessary&mdash 3 to 300 Bq· 3.5 m· m&minus s&minus 3.

For further information contact us at helpdesk@openaire.euapps Other research product2020 Turkey TurkishEge Üniversitesi Türkiye’de son yıllarda iş sağlığı ve güvenliği konusunda yapılan çalışmaların gerek özel sektör gerekse akademik alandaki artışına paralel olarak konuya gösterilen duyarlılığın arttığı gözlenmektedir. Ancak bu olumlu gelişmenin genelde konuyu ana hatlarıyla ele alan çalışmalarla sınırlı kaldığı dikkat çekmektedir. Sektörlerin işleyişindeki farklılık ve süreçlerin değişkenliği, ana hatlarıyla işçi sağlığı ve iş güvenliği konusunda kavramsal bilginin aynı olmasıyla birlikte, her sektör ve birimin ayrı ayrı mercek altına alınmasını gerektirmektedir. Eğitim ve araştırma etkinliklerinin yürütüldüğü bina ve eklentileri, ayrı ayrı ele alınması gereken bina gruplarıdır. Bu noktadan yola çıkarak şekillenen proje çalışmasında, kullanıcı sağlığının kontrol edilmesi ve iyileştirilebilmesi için öncelikle durum tespitinin yapılması gerekmektedir. Bu çalışma kapsamında binalarda bulunabilen radon gazı ve radon ölçümü hakkında bilgilere yer verilerek radon miktarının insan sağlığı üzerindeki etkilerine değinilmiştir. Ege Üniversitesi, Kimya Mühendisliği bölüm binası, Tekstil Mühendisliği bölüm binası ve ayrıca iki konut bu proje çalışması kapsamında kullanıcı sağlığı açısından radon maruziyetini incelemek için ele alınmıştır. Corentium Home Digital Radon Monitor radon ölçüm cihazı kullanılarak toplamda 7 farklı ölçüm yapılmıştır. Maruziyet eylem değerini aşan ölçümler Türkiye Atom Enerjisi Kurumu (TAEK), Amerika Birleşik Devletleri Çevre koruma ajansı (EPA), Uluslararası Radyasyondan Korunma Komisyonu (ICRP), Dünya Sağlık Örgütü (WHO), Uluslararası Atom Enerjisi Ajansı (IAEA) ve Avrupa Komisyonu tarafından belirlenen sınır değerlerle karşılaştırılmıştır. Sonuç olarak; binaların bodrum katlarında bulunan radon miktarları tespit edilmiştir ve bu çalışmalar sonucu radon gazı sınırını aşan odaların çalışanlar üzerindeki etkilerini azaltmak için önerilere yer verilmiştir. In this study, information about radon gas and radon measurement is given and the effects of radon on human health are addressed. Ege University, Department of Chemical Engineering, Department of Textile Engineering and two residential buildings were examined for radon exposure in terms of occupational health and safety. A total of 7 different measurements were taken using the Corentium Home Digital Radon Monitor radon meter. Measures in excess of the exposure value were assessed by Turkey Atomic Energy Agency (TAEK), United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), International Commission on Radiation Protection (ICRP), World Health Organization (WHO) and International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Daily readings from a room in the Chemical Engineering Department have exceeded the exposure action value determined by authorized organizations. As a result; the amount of radon found in the basement floors of the buildings have been determined and suggestions have been given to reduce the effect of the rooms exceeding the radon gas limit on the workers.

İnsanlar; yaşam standartları, yaşadıkları ortamların fiziksel özellikleri ve coğrafi şartlara bağlı olarak değişiklik göstermekle birlikte yaklaşık 2,8 mSv yıllık ortalama radyasyon dozuna maruz kalmaktadır. Doğal kaynaklardan alınan dozun en önemli bileşeni, radon gazı ve onun kısa yarı ömürlü bozunma ürünleridir. Bu yolla maruz kalınan yıllık ortalama doz 1,3 mSv’dir. Genelde insanlar zamanlarının %90’ını kapalı mekânlarda geçirdikleri için radona maruz kalmaları önemli bir problem olarak ortaya çıkmaktadır. Kapalı ortamlardaki radonun büyük kısmı bina altındaki toprakta biriken radon gazının çatlak ve boşluklardan, bina içlerine sızmasıyla oluşur. Bu raporda, Kurumumuz tarafından evlerde radon aktivite konsantrasyonunun tespitine yönelik yapılan çalışma sonuçları, radon gazı ve sağlık etkilerine yönelik literatürden taranan bilgiler ile birlikte sunulmuştur. All living things are continuously exposed to ionizing radiation originated from natural radiation sources i.e. soil and building materials due to radionuclides in the Earth's crust, cosmic rays, water, food and the human body itself as well as artificial radiation sources. The worldwide average background dose for a human being, depending on the physical and geological features of the place, is about 2.8 mSv per year. With the estimated annual average effective dose of 1.3 mSv, radon gas is particularly significant source of exposure to natural radiation. As individuals spend more than 90% of their time indoors, the exposure to radon becomes a significant problem. Most of the radon in indoor air is due to the penetration of radon gas in the ground through cracks and gaps into the buildings. In this report the results of the measurements on the determination of radon activity concentrations in houses are given with supplementary information compiled from the literature on radon and its heath effects.

Another important chamber component is the measuring device of climatic conditions, since temperature, air pressure, and relative humidity must be determined. The construction of the equipment allows the time-stable radon activity concentration to be maintained at a precise level for several days. Radon concentration values can be arbitrarily and continuously set in the range from 100 Bq· The National Institute for Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical Protection, under the European project 16ENV10 MetroRADON (the European metrology program for innovation and research, EMPIR), has developed unique equipment for the testing of measuring devices at low-level radon activity concentrations. The equipment consists particularly of an airtight low-level radon chamber (LLRCH) with an inner volume of 324 liters and a pressure vessel as a radon-free air source. The mass flow controller of the Bronkhorst EL-Flow type is a part of the apparatus and ensures the requested airflow through the radon source&mdash through the chamber. The homogeneity of the atmosphere in the chamber is ensured by means of a continuously regulated fan (airflows in the range of 0.1&ndash a Rn-222 type RF 5 flow-through source with a Ra-226 activity of 4.955 kBq developed by Czech Metrological Institute within the above-mentioned project partialized if necessary&mdash 3 to 300 Bq· 3.5 m· m&minus s&minus 3.
